Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has escalated Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Abuse. Isolation has resulted in people having short tempers and losing control. Couples are being physically, financially, sexually, and spiritually abusive, and minimizing other forms of abuse. Families are being torn apart and children placed in foster care. Woman, men and children are being verbally, emotionally and psychologically abused, and experiencing extreme mental health challenges. These circumstances have provided an environment that is ripe for all types of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse, that leads to broken homes, unhealthy relationships, incarceration and death. The workshop will cover the dynamics of domestic violence, power and control in intimate partner relationships, provide resources and insights for professionals working with individuals, couples, and families who have been impacted by domestic violence.
